And it all starts with a little black dress.
Remember that time Jay-Z released a commercial with Rhapsody to promote his classic, Blueprint III album? Well if you don’t, let me be an awesome reminder: the day was September 8 and the year was 2009. Jay-Z blessed us with his 11th studio album. Shawn Carter aka Jay-Z aka Hova is the G.O.A.T fr, fr. From day one until now. Char Saint said so!
Fun fact about the art cover for the album: The cover consists of a large amount of all-white instruments and recording tools stacked in a corner, with three red lines across the image. Rather than simply using photoshop, the album’s design team carefully stacked all the equipment in a corner then used a projector to create the bars. They then painted red onto the equipment where the projection of the bars was, and replaced the projector with a camera to achieve the correct perspective for the image. Blueprint 3 would be Jay-Z’s first album cover that did not feature his face on it.
Kerby Jean-Raymond began his career in 2001 while still attending The High School of Fashion Industries in Manhattan. He was assigned an apprenticeship under Kay Unger at her eponymous label and later worked with Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig at Marchesa focusing mainly on creating womenswear early in his career.
In 2014, he won the FGI’s Rising Star Award in the menswear category for Pyer Moss (a project produced in New York City to reinvent classic athletic gear and uniforms by adding opulent cues and refining the fit) and was also a finalist in the debut DHL Exported Prize presented by IMG Worldwide.
In 2015, Jean-Raymond was named on Forbes 30 Under 30 list. In 2018, he was nominated for the Swarovski Award for Emerging Talent, he won CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund as well. He’s on a real roll to greatness and I’m certainly here for the ride!

Brooklyn born artist has proclaimed herself a “triple threat” and based on what her upcoming performance at the New York Fashion & Music conference, Oneida may just be exactly what she’s claiming to be.
As one of many artists who will be performing this Sunday at the New York Fashion & Music Conference during New York Fashion Week, the singer, songwriter and musician was certainly excited to announce her secured spot via Instagram on December 22, 2018.
But pause, the artist has so much to offer including on top of being a Jamaican goddess. For instance, she is the granddaughter of well known reggae artist Denroy Morgan, as well as the daughter of 2x Grammy award winning artist, producer, and songwriter Roy “Gramps” Morgan. So it’s fairly obvious that music is in Oneida’s DNA.
The question is how will she fair in her performance? Stay tuned because Char’s #RawReview will be in full effect February 10.
