Fenty for the Win?

Char Saint

Fenty Maison hasn’t even been out an entire and Rihanna is already making history. She is now the first black woman to collaborate with the powerful French corporation which includes brands like Hennesy, Louis Vuitton, and Sephora. https://youtu.be/pod3RjrnA5A

Inspired by a worldwide community beyond traditional boundaries, FENTY embraces the fundamental freedom: freedom from convention and rules.

On FENTY’s website, a visual was created to pay homage to photographer Kwame Brathwaite for the Maison’s debut, Release 5-19. Brathwaite is the son of Bajan parents and was also a fundamental force of the Black is Beautiful movement of 1960s and 1970s Harlem, New York.

The striking images rediscovered from Kwame’s archives speak to natural beauty and boundless strength. Today, FENTY establishes a dialogue between the past and present while championing diversity, femininity, and the power of black women and men.
